Penn has jumped into the saltwater low profile game with the Penn Squall Low Profile Reels. It seems Penn has learned from the other manufacturers that build a similar product and has created something that will handle a lot of needs from freshwater and saltwater anglers. The Squall LP is constructed of aluminum and weighs in at just 8-13 ozs depending on the size. It features Penn’s HT-100 drag system which puts out 24 lbs of fish stopping power, which is huge! Machined brass gears are going to handle the rigors of bottom fishing, jigging and hooking up with big fish after big fish. There is an adjustable magnetic brake on the side so you’ll be able to make those long accurate casts when you are throwing topwater. Six ball bearings and a great handle means the Squall LP is going to be a fun reel to fish and will deliver on performance. Penn has achieved all of this at a great price. Penn Squall Low Profile Reels are available in 200, 300 and 400 sizes. The 200 and 300 have a double paddle handle while the 400 features an EVA ball power knob. The low gear ratio models are black and gold while the high gear ratio models are black and red.
